In March 2021 a Chinese-based hacker group known as Hafnium deployed an attack on Microsoft Exchange Servers (Email Servers) worldwide. While a fix was deployed almost immediately, this merely prevented the infection. Malicious code still needs to be removed from the server. As of Mid April 2021, there are still many servers that were compromised during this vulnerability. (It was estimated that over 60,000 Exchange servers were originally infected)
The US Justice Department has now authorized the FBI to search for and reach out with the intent to remediate the remaining servers that have not been "cleaned".
For the purposes of small business, you should NOT be running your own Email system. You should be using a service (Such as Microsoft's Office 365) to host your email outside of your system. Please contact us ASAP if you are running your own Email server - we can get you dis-infected and more importantly migrated and protected against future issues.
